CASE STUDY: Milgram, Kant and duty
The Milgram experiment in 1961 raises fascinating questions about duty, right and wrong and reason versus emotion. In 2009 Michael Portillo observed and commented on a reconstruction of the experiment now available on Youtube and hyperlinked below. The powerpoint also contains hyperlinks to background material and the trial transcript of Adolf Eichmann - who invoked Kant in his defence. "I just want to say, again, a heartfelt thank you to you for all the hard work you have done to create the Philosophical Investigations website. Your generosity in sharing these fantastic resources is quite humbling. My teaching (and my students' learning) will benefit greatly and the resources will, I'm sure, have an impact on re-invigorating the popularity of the subject beyond AS and A2. Well done."
